Benvenuto A Italian Kids
Siamo un’associazione di genitori italiani che ha deciso di incontrarsi regolarmente per permettere ai nostri figli, in età scolare e prescolare - di fare nuove amicizie e giocare, cantare e parlare l’italiano.
Ci incontriamo un sabato al mese dalle 2.30 alle 4.30pm presso la Chiesa di St. Mary’s, a Swinton, Manchester.
Lo scopo del gruppo è quello di creare un ambiente dove i bambini bilingui possano rafforzare ed imparare l’italiano attraverso giochi, canzoni, fiabe, filastrocche, attività manuali, etc. Allo stesso tempo, i genitori hanno la possibilità di conoscersi l’un l’altro e di scambiarsi esperienze e consigli, e anche fare quattro chiacchiere in relax ed amicizia.
Il gruppo ha iniziato la sua attività a gennaio 2006, ed ora che i bambini iniziano a crescere e con loro le idee e le proposte, il gruppo informale lascia il posto ad un'associazione, che si propone anche di provvedere all'insegnamento della lingua italiana.
Le finalità della nostra associazione sono:
- Sostenere l’educazione bilingue dei bambini di origine italiana o con un background italiano;
- Promuovere la lingua e cultura italiana;
- Sostenere la comunità italiana.
Al momento abbiamo due attività, il Playgroup e la Scuola di Italiano.

Welcome to Italian Kids
We are an association of Italian-speaking parents who meet regularly to allow our children, pre-school and school aged- to make new friends, play, sing and practice Italian together.
We meet one Saturday per month, from 2.30 to 4.30 pm, at St. Mary's Church, in Swinton, Manchester.
The aim of the group is to provide an environment where bilingual children can reinforce and learn Italian through play, songs, storytelling, arts and drama. At the same time, Italian parents can get to know each other, sharing experiences, tips and suggestions, or just chat in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
We started an Italian playgroup in January 2006. Now that the children are growing up, and more ideas and proposals are coming forward, the informal group is replaced by a proper association, also aiming at teaching Italian language and culture.
The main purposes of our association are:
- To support the bilingual upbringing of children from Italian descent or with an Italian background;
- To promote the Italian language and culture;
- To be a support network for the Italian community.
Currently we run two activities, the Playgroup and the Italian Club.
